Blogging is a very fun activity, that is why I decided to turn it into a full time job. But it is a tough job, you are not guaranteed an income and you have to wait months to get your commissions. Here are some great money saving tips that I use for myself as a full time blogger.

Below are five tips that can help you save money while running the actual business, the other five are tips related to the .com lifestyle and how you should go about managing money as a full time blogger.

Let’s get started….

10 Money Saving Tips For Bloggers

10 Money Saving Tips For Bloggers

Save Money on Hosting

Unless you’re blogging on a free platform like Tumblr, you need hosting! (btw to properly set up an online business, I always suggest not using free platform, you need a paid domain and hosting). I have free hosting on all 3 of my blogs over at Wealthy Affiliate, that would have costed me close to $30 a month, but with a $47 subscription I get unlimited free hosting and the best online business training.

Buy from NameCheap

Continuing with hosting, try NameCheap to register domains, just $3+ for the first year. GoDaddy is too expensive and they always try to sell you on things. Also NameCheap gives you the WhoIs guard for free for a year! 🙂

Utlizie Free Tools

Check out free tools like Buffer, Hootsuite and Wunderlist, they can automate and keep track of a lot of your online to-dos.

Use Fiverr

Fiverr is an online marketplace for people willing to do tasks for $5, enough said! if you want an article written, logo designed, whatever actually. Outside Fiverr, people will usually charge much more for such services, if you are looking to get something done, I suggest you spend some time researching the marketplace.

The Free Keyword Tool

As a blogger, you should really learn about keyword research. You can find a lot of paid services that do that for you but that is just an extra expense a month, try the alphabet soup technique, you’ll thank me later 🙂 Oh I also get a free keyword tool over at Wealthy Affiliate, just something to consider. 😉

(Now for the money saving tips related to the blogger-lifestyle)

Be Your Own A-Hole Boss

This one is not really a “tip”, more a word of warning: The .com lifestyle requires dedication, focus and hard work. Be your own boss and make sure you are hard on yourself: Set up work times, stick to a strict schedules and don’t neglect tasks. Remember, you are in business for yourself now, it’s do or die. You are responsible for your business.

Blog From Home

Yes, we all fantasise about blogging from a coffee shop, but unless you are making bank with your blog: Blog from home. Just sit yourself on the desk, make a cup of coffee and get going. That $7 coffee from Starbucks won’t suddenly make you a good blogger, you can do without it!

Do Home Cooking

You have all the time in the world, research some fun recipes that you’d like to try and do them at home. Don’t eat out a lot, take outs are expensive compared to home cooking, probably not as healthy either. Set yourself an hour a day and dedicate it to cooking. If you want to save time, cook double today so tomorrow you won’t have to cook again :0

Keep Organised

As I said, blogging and working from home requires a lot of focus and determination. You won’t have any if you are not organised. Keep you work area, your work area. Keep it clean and comfortable to work in.The reason to this is because you need to be very productive in your work hours, because that is what will lead to the money. If you have a disorganised workplace, you are losing time, focus, energy and MONEY!

Learn How to Relax

While you may love blogging and you might want to keep working round the clock, set aside sometime for you to relax. I find myself way too often watching tutorials and following training late at night, then I’m too excited to go to sleep and get my rest. I too have to master this tip! It’s not a good way to work and it’s not healthy! Learn how to switch off your thoughts and relax.

So there you go folks, 10 great money saving tips for bloggers.

Just so you know, the first time you switch to full time, it’s very hard, even if you are already earning from your blog.
