Trying to save money is one thing, adding an extra income is another. While it is great to learn how to save and manage your money, I also think it is very important to have multiple income streams.

Fortunately the internet has blessed us with multiple options on how we can make some extra money on the side and most of them doesn’t even require us to leave the house!

Now I know what you’re thinking and you’re right: The internet is filled with “make-money” scams. That is true. But what is also true is that people are really making money online.

From filling out surveys, to starting blog businesses and also doing freelance work. The possibilities are endless, you just need to know which one is right for you.

I did them all.

Today I’d like to take a look at one of these options and we’re going to be discussing how to earn an extra income doing freelance work.

Apart from my blogging business, I’m also a freelancer on PeoplePerHour and I think it is by far one of the best platforms you can make money from as a freelancer.

What Is People Per Hour?

People Per Hour or as it is commonly referred to: PPH, is an online marketplace for people selling jobs by the hour. You set your price, create the hourlies you’d like to offer and you get to work.

If you run a business or you’re a freelancer, PPH is really something you can benefit from. I have tried other freelance sites out there, but I have to say PPH is one of my favourite ones. Fiverr is pretty awesome as well.

The Benefits of PPH

Speaking of Fiverr; Fiverr can sometimes come across as plain silly and unprofessional meanwhile on PPH the environment has a much more serious and professional tone.

Depending on my mood, I find PPH is a much better place to make real business happen.

You Can Feature Your Gig

One of the best ways to get your first customers is to pay to have your service featured.

Whenever I launch a new hourlie I also feature it as it will be displayed on the PPH marketplace and 98% of times, I always get work; which covers the price to get it featured and hopefully something extra.

Work When You Feel Like It

This is also pretty cool. Say you don’t want to work on weekends, on PPH you can. You can set your days off and when customers buy from you, the deadline is altered to fit your “off days”.

Say you offer an hourlie that will take 3 days to complete and a buyer buys your service on Friday. The deadline to deliver is not Monday, it’s Wednesdays!

This is a great feature for those that just want to earn a side income without the hassle and stress like a full time job.

Funds Held In Escrow

When a buyer buys your product, he has to deposit funds in Escrow (all managed by PPH). Once you deliver the work and it is approved, the funds will be released to you. Easy, simple and fast!

This is best to avoid any unfair dealings and shady business tactics. Your work and your money are all safe with PPH!

The Cons on PPH?

I don’t see much cons with the PPH platform really. I’ve never had any problems with a buyer, the customer support or the service offered.

What Can You Offer?

Anything really! What are you good at?

  • Writing blog posts?
  • Sharing on social media?
  • Being a virtual assistant?
  • Graphic design?
  • Market research?
  • Reviewing products?

Whatever you can offer, offer it.

There are thousands of freelancers selling their services and there is a market for every niche. I suggest you take a look at the marketplace and see what you can come up with! 🙂

How Much Can You Earn?

Any amount you want. You can do it as a side income and earn $100 per month or you can treat it as a full time business and make $2000 per month.

It all depends on the quality of the service you offer, the customer base for such service and the time you want to invest in it.

I’m not that into it and I make around $100 per month, which is pretty cool but obviously not “life changing”.

I use that extra income to pay some bills, save up or maybe even reinvest it in something. Trust me, I always manage to find a place for it even before it reaches my PayPal LOL!

Is People Per Hour Free?

Yes it is! There are some fees PPH will take as a commission, but to sign up and start selling it is 100% free!

How To Get Started?

Just sign up to PPH, set up your profile, decide on what you want to offer and get to work. I suggest you spend some time having a look at the website and reading the blog.

Make yourself comfortable with the marketplace and watch some videos about PPH like the ones I featured for you below.
